A Blue Note & Benedetto Guitar Artist
& Artistic Director of the MCA

The guitarist and composer Lefteris Christofis is a Blue Note Artist whereas his last album “Nous Icons” was released by Blue Note Records, co -produced by the ‘7 times Grammy Award winner’ drummer Paul Wertico (Pat Metheny Group) and it had remarkable reviews from the media.

Lefteris Christofis completed his studies at the Music Department of the Anglia University in Cambridge and lived in London. With his own “Cosmic Band” and as a member of the APU Jazz Orchestra performed in many venues and festivals. During his seven years of living in London he released his personal albums “Kalesma - Lefteris Christofis with British Friends” and “Mythoplasia”.

Lefteris Christofis has performed with many top musicians from the UK and Greek jazz scene and also with the drummer Paul Wertico, bassist Jeff Berlin and pianist Barbara Unger.

He has collaborated as orchestrator with the saxophonist Chico Freeman -who has recorded in Lefteris’ last album.

As guitarist, he participated in the project ‘One Olympics’ of the Magnetics Poets which was presented in the Winter Olympics Games in Torino 2006.

Lefteris Christofis is the artistic director of the Music Center Athens - “Musical Ensembles & Improvisation” (www.musicenter.gr) and he gives clinics concerning his personal project “From the Improvisation to Composition”.

He got endorsement by the Benedetto Guitars and as a Benedetto Artist - he performed and demonstrated his extraordinary guitar Bravo Deluxe 40th Anniversary in New York.

In 2013, he forms the Lefteris Christofis consists of  Lefteris Christofis  (guitars, vocals), Dominique Di Piazza (bass). Jacques Marugg (vibraphone), Nikos Touliatos (drums).

He presents the Benedetto Guitars Performance with the president of Benedetto Guitars & guitarist Howard Paul.

He records his new CD with the participation of Chico Freeman and Lefteris Christofis Group.

In 2016 releases his new album ManTis and starts performing with Lefteris Christofis Group in concerts and festivals.
